Overview
The verb ir (to go) is irregular in the present tense so you will need to memorize its forms. The verb ir is used a lot and you may already recognize some of its forms.
Ir is often used with the preposition a (to). If a is followed by the definite article el, then they combine to form al. If a is followed by the other definite articles (la, los, las), then there is no contraction.
